Sandra Peters

“Photography and the arts have become an integral and meaningful part of my life.  I first became interested in photography in 2002, following the birth of my first grandchild. In April 2011, I entered the Fulton-Montgomery Art Show in Gloversville; I have been exhibiting and selling my photographs since then.  In 2017, I took on a trustee role and the position of Arts Center Manager with the Sacandaga Valley Arts Network.  Though my focus is largely on landscape and nature photography, subjects of interest bring me indoors to compose and capture still life compositions, the first occurring in 2011 with “Rainy Day Peonies” and the most recent being “Iris Fancy in Sunset’s Last Light,” recently hanging at the Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts’ 2019 NYS Summer Show.  As someone who strongly believes in community and volunteerism, I am often called to create a composition that celebrates an emotional connection between people and places.   “Experiences, Examples and Inspiration; Becoming Best for Women” and “Heritage: The Year of the Glove” are two such compositions.   In March 2018, my exhibit “Along My Way: A New Path” was featured by SVAN at the Northville Public Library.  The exhibit captured many scenes that I observed ‘along the way’ in my photo-journaling travels.  Whether in nature or indoor subject matter, I strive to apply my eye and abilities to provide the viewer with pleasing and meaningful images, most often relative to the Adirondack region. Since 2002 when I first began to capture images for artistic enjoyment, I have been mindful of my environs and have had my camera at-the-ready for opportunities that would otherwise pass unnoticed.  My tag line is “Interpreting the Camera’s View.”   In sharing my photographs and interpretations of nature’s wondrous gifts, I often add poetic titles and descriptions to convey subtleties and connotations of the picture.  It is a privilege to share my artistic works, celebrating some of the best parts of life, giving us inspiration and expressing meaning and connection between nature, places and the human race. “ - Sandra J.
