The BEST-IN-SHOW award, winning $50 and a solo exhibit at the gallery, is the amazing mosaic artist, Linda Biggers. Her work Adirondack Adventure, a 9x12 glass mosaic, was actually a sort of self-portrait exploring her own connection to the beautiful waters of the Adirondacks.
Fine art photographer Paul Valovic was recognized for his stunning 19x23 landscape, Bleecker Swamp, and won the People Choice for Award for his amazing photo of an original 1903 canoe, ADK Guide Boat! As an avid outdoorsman, Paul uses digital photography to capture the beauty of his home in Fulton County, NY, and beyond.
Janet Marie Yeates’s beautiful 11x14 oil painting titled Ticonderoga Morning was also selected for honorable mention. Janet enjoyed a decade-long career as Executive Director of Schoharie County Arts Councilstudied drawing, painting, printmaking, and calligraphy. She has lived in the southern Adirondacks for more than two decades.
Last but not least, photographer and writer Susan Meyer’s 8x12 image, Upper Hudson Sunrise Paddle, adds an ethereal element to this collection. Susan has stated that her personal goal of sharing her photography “…is using the healing power of nature to transmute the light of our natural landscapes into human spaces with visual anchors that inspire presence, calm, and connection.”
All Honorable mention recipients received $20.
The winner of the People's Choice Award is still up to you to decide! Cast your ballot at the Northville Public Library before September 10, 2021, to show the artists your appreciation. The recipient will be awarded $20 and a complimentary year’s membership to the Sacandaga Valley Arts Network!
